Dry Ridge and Dry Verge
Ridge and Verge Repairs
The tiles along the top and sides of your roof take the full force of the wind and rain. On most older roofs they’re held on with mortar, which cracks and crumbles over time. Once it fails, rainwater can get under the tiles and soak into the timbers beneath. Left damp, those timbers rot, weaken and warp, and the damp can spread into your loft and ceilings. What started as a small repair can turn into replacing rafters, battens and sections of roofing.
Dry ridge and dry verge systems stop this from happening. A dry ridge system fixes the ridge tiles along the top of your roof with strong mechanical fixings and a sealed ridge fitting, instead of mortar. A dry verge system does the same for the edge of the roof at the gable end, using a secure fixing and cover so the tiles stay put and the edge stays sealed. With no mortar to crack, wash out or fall away, your roof is better protected against wind and rain. Dry ridge systems also let air move through the roof space, which helps reduce damp and condensation.
